Speaking as one of those stuck in Stage 6’s DivX festival limbo, it is VERY frustrating to be aggressively recruited - when they knew beforehand what machinima is - and then get treated with suspicion, like I’m a software pirate or somethin’.

Also, it’s been two weeks and I’ve had no response to my Stage 6 tech support ticket (other than them assigning a ticket number) asking about getting emails when someone comments on films, blogs, or forums. I have also seen one member raise the issue on their forum without getting a response. Hopefully when they get their new programing in gear all will be well.

And also, they say you can use the DivX Author program to make and burn DVDs that are useable in home or PC DVD players. I will be trying this to see if it works. I’ve heard some players will not read DivX format. I’ll test it on a few players I have.

And lastly, it’s good to find out your DigitalPhil interview was both on purpose AND accidental, you scallywag! Like I said on mprem, it was executed better than Reno 911 or Borat. So that’s why Michelle has been so mum on the issue all week. Hilarious! :)

    Eh, Phil…
Don’t worry, I end up laughing. Somewhere on the road I realized it isn’t important really is it joke or not, so I wrote this sentence about how we, our reactions, are the show now. I was still wondering how you will explain direct “No” if it is a joke, because I know you are not type for some cheap lie just to make show work. So, defending my point of true show I was defending you also - hey, people, he is not a liar, how you can said show is joke - you actually say that Phil is liar.
He he, now when I am remembering exactly what you answer me, it is true - you never said a lie. I admit, after very convincing post of Schulz I was completely confused, thinking something like “Oh my god, nobody understand whats happened on the show - Overman is not a liar but he is control freak, one peace of pompous ass but what the hell, I don’t see it necessary like flow. Poor Digital Phil, nobody have lab environment and perfect conditions, shit happens. Also, Overman know he is ass in the show but he let us hear it anyway - well, this is something. ” And so on.
In one moment I also made decision that if you ever ask me for interview I will say no because I cant guarantee perfect conditions and I don’t want to kill every mammal in area just to prevent interruptions.
God, what a pompous ass I am.
One more thing crossed my mind at the time, that maybe you are lying to me, but I am not that important for you, you know people involved much longer so… well… I am just the victim of the good show, who cares. (I throw this thoughts very quickly, but sorry anyway. Also, sorry for such stupid first reply “Is this a joke, Phil, will you lying to us?” What I was thinking?!)
So, you see, this was quite a emotional ride for me. At the end, I am glad it was.
You are brilliant man, Phil. Right now I feel proud to know you.
    It will pass… :)

BTW, I found the ant video from NWN, not boing boing, although I did see that post later on.

What a week, what a show. And we had the chance to be part of it.
Great reference to John Cage :)
Tnx so much Phil and Phil. And what a great comeback for digital-phil.
Can’t wait to hear/read more from him soon again.
Ep. 14 will be part of us for the rest of our lives, I’m sure. Another remarkable milestone in Machinima history.
Tnx a lot Overman you liked my way of telling the truth (now that we all know it for sure). For others who are interested, I had posted it as a comment on Mprem:

It’s sad to hear about the Stage6 problems. Guess I still make a DivX version
and send it to them. I’ve tried the DivX Author and the file worked with my standalone player. Not the menu stuff, but subtitles and multiple audio tracks work.
I now have two different subtitles and an optional audio commentary for my
film and that looks like a great way to distribute all that in one file.
I’m interested to see what FleeF will find out during his player tests.

    Overman for President.

You mentioned there weren’t many video tutorials for machinima. It’s true. It’s also ironic - the barrier to producing these things is usually having to learn how to video capture your computer display, and most machinima makers should be way ahead of the curve in that department, with at least FRAPS installed. So let’s see some machinima creation screencasts!

  7. Comment by Ben — April 9, 2007 at 10:33 pm

Anthony, good suggestion there’s just one problem, FRAPS doesn’t work outside of a DirectX game (at last check with 2.81)

We can’t FRAPs Audio Mixing or Vegas Tinkering :-(

If we could - that would be something awesome - we could call it the Overman Tutorial training overhaul project :-D

There was finally a machinima film accepted into the DivX Film Fest. It is Bathtub Productions’ Chronicles of Humamity Titan. Congratulations to that crew! Let’s hope this a good sign for the rest of us.

Another excellent show. Real sorry to hear about the DivX festival blues. Thanks for the link for Shadow Dancer (you were right - good film). I’ve wanted to create some tuts myself, but time is a bitch to manage. I’d like to actually make my own film.

Good to hear about Darth’s “Chronicles of Humanity” being accepted.

I thoroughly enjoyed your melodramarealshow. I understand how Tom feels, but the impact of the show and it’s technical excellence are really something. You’ve got
people guessing now, and interested. I hope you use the style again, maybe for a
    machinima.

Thanks for a very enjoyable show. I love to hear you ramble. Yes, the “triangle” guy should be shown the door. No question.
