This was very nicely done - unhurried, relatively understated, well-timed. Kudos to both Phils, but especially our host - have you been planning this one across all those previous episodes when you've been gently dropping hints about the way Machinima Live ended?

Sounded like a set-up to me...like you'd planned the whole thing. The frustrations did not sound real enough...but it was interesting to listen to.

What did you call it? Drifting out of Machinima then back again? Machinima coma!!

I guess that's what I've been in. How long's it been? 5 or 6 years? Longer?

Glad to see you're still keeping it together, Overman.

That gave me some cringing anxiety for sure. You tugged on my Phil strings. I'm glad you guys could chip some ice off and have fun with those topics like that.

Hands-down the best show you've ever done. Not since "David Holzman's Diary" have I laughed and cringed at the same time. The cracks show only at one or two spots (the others have pointed them out). The CS brother in the back-ground was a perfect touch. More and more the Overcast is becoming a brilliant (yes, I mean to use that word) mix of personal essay, informative review and faux documentary.

Great, great show. I'm so glad that all of those hours walking the floor led you to decide to air this "revealing" podcast. It was the right thing to do, Phil.

I'm gullible enough to believe in the back of my mind that this may have possibly been real, knowing that I've had some pretty crazy phone conversations before. This for me was like an extended segment of "Crank Yankers" with some super-fly TNT and some crack. Hilarious!

Guess I have to confessed I buyed that story on first listening, run in to discussions with my girlfriend on journalism, ethics, human relationships etc.
Fortunalty, subconciousness grabbed in and prevented my to reply my first thoughts
on that episode. And much better, it came up in the middle of the night with
the 'fools day' solution. Guess I never had laughed about me that much before.
What a rolercoster of emotions this episode provided. Well planned and crafted trap.

Jesus!

I also can't tell if this was a joke or not... the pancakes were a bit over the top. But if it was real I wouldn't be surprised either.

Anyway, thank you for the entertainment!

Very funny. I always look forward to the first of April every year. It never disappoints. It was nice to finally hear from Phil again. I was thinking that he may have died. He mentioned a comeback. Looking forward to that.

Well, you have no mercy, Phil. Every unedited recording have good chance to sound like Jerry Springer. You obviously wanted surrealistic show, so you got it.
If we ever make interview, remind me to provide perfectly clean conditions because YOU are recording. Jesus.
I am little scared of you right now.
Its not bad feeling, I am not criticizing, but it was somewhat unexpected for me, that all.

Best.Overcast.Ever.

Like Fleef, I felt your pain, but only for a moment as spasms of laughter overtook me. The absurdness of DP's situation was funny enough, but I just about fell over when you let out that small, but ever so-frustrated sigh before the break.

Don't feel bad about this. Please. You've (once again, do you EVER get tired of this?) provided an invaluable service to the machinima community. I'm proud to know you my friend, and I mean sincerely.

DP, wherever you are, congratulations on achieving your goal of machinima infamy.

Say it ain't so.

The kindest man in machinima decides not to lick his wounds but instead chooses to do some cutting down.

Not sure if I enjoyed this. Felt a bit personal for a podcast.

But, drama makes good pod.

Remind me never to order pancakes around you, despite fluffyness.

I posted this over at mprem, but I wanted to support you here as well:

LMAO! I feel bad for your frustrations, Phil, but when his mom called it got seriously funny. I think you couldn't have planned it better. I don't think you should feel bad. I enjoyed it quite a bit. When he yanked the cable out in the background I was cracking up big time.

I don't mean to laugh at your misery, but I got a kick out of that. The "Dad's fluffy pancakes" part literally had me in tears. I feel guilty laughing at this knowing you weren't having a good time with it, but I couldn't help myself. Sorry. I related to you because your tribulations reminded me of an ex-bandmember that put us through similar ordeals at just about every gig over the years.

I'm too new on the scene to know who DigitalPhil is, so I'm probably looking like an upstart here with these comments of amusement; pardon me in advance if I've stepped on some tender toes.

It takes a brave person to do an honest show like this, to put yourself out there in the moment. Don't let this one get you down.
