This conversation took place in November, and we talk about the history of Short Fuze, the formation of the idea for Moviestorm, inspirations for many of the product's key features, their business model, their development philosophy, and their vision for the future of the craft of machinima.

<itunes:summary>This special edition of the show features a live interview conducted by Hugh Hancock and Johnnie Ingram at the Machinima Festival Europe 2007, held last month in Leicester, UK at the De Montfort University Campus Centre. Hugh and Johnnie speak with Ross Bambrey and Steve Wallace, fellow members of Strange Company and collaborators on their feature film, BloodSpell.

Ross and Steve are asked to describe their "Top 3 Machinima Moments." The high spirited discussion touches on several of their favorite machinima films as well as what making machinima sometimes has in common with driving under the influence. "Don't drink and film..."

After much deliberation, we've decided to release this interview largely uncensored. BAC levels are running high, and there is more than a little bit of adult language here, so please be advised. I think I'll restate that in bold.

<itunes:summary>This week I had the pleasure and privilege to speak with members of Lit Fuse Films, the dream team behind a host of award-winning and critically acclaimed films such as Combine Nation, War of the Servers, and The Ballad of Black Mesa. The globe-spanning conversation included: Zachariah Scott, Michael K. Clements, and Brian / Oskar. We discuss several of their diverse films, their collaborative process and technical approach, and what keeps them motivated and productive.

Lit Fuse is a rarity in the machinima world - alongside the likes of Ill Clan, Strange Company, Myndflame - a large team busting at the seams with talent, and they're making machinima in what some would say is one of the most technically challenging of all platforms: Valve's Source Engine. And they're making it look easy.

Thank you for listening! Lit Fuse and I would love to hear your feedback, so please bring it on!

<itunes:summary>Winners of the Stolen Life DVD Giveaway are announced. Then, this week we're talking about what just about everyone is talking about: Microsoft's recently published Game Content Usage Rules. What's the big deal? Well, for starters... these rules are not just about Halo, or even just about Microsoft games. Once these rules are solidified, being the industry precedent, they will very likely serve as a template which other game companies will imitate. There is a key prohibition in those rules which, so far, no one appears to be talking about. And in my opinion, it's huge. We need to speak up NOW, if we care.

The exciting and breaking news is... it appears those who drafted the document are listening to hear what you have to say. That's just as huge.

Things are happening REALLY fast with this; it's possible that by the time you listen to this, some of what I bring up is going to have been made irrelevant by new developments. Keep that in mind.

Thanks for listening! Let me know what you think.

<itunes:summary>Peter Rasmussen takes time out to discuss his filmmaking career, his influences, what attracts him to machinima, and of course the films themselves. On the verge of his second machinima feature film release, Rasmussen is one of the genre's most respected and prolific directors and advocates. He is proof positive that one can make machinima, be taken seriously while doing so, and end up owning what he creates. His story in this field is a personal inspiration to me, as I hope it will be to you too.

This episode features music from Philip Johnston, composer of the soundtrack to "Stolen Life," and winner of the 2006 Machinima Film Festival award for Best Original Music. Philip was kind enough to grant me permission to use some of his music to complement this interview. If you like what you hear, please consider thanking Philip by purchasing one of his CDs.

If you've never experienced the overcast, this is a great chance to get a "best of" sampler to see what it's all about. If you're already a listener, I think you'll enjoy the ride as well... and I'll bet you hear something you missed the first time around.

2007 promises to be another entertaining year, there are already some very interesting things planned for "Season 2."

<itunes:summary>Part B of Episode 11 takes yet another different turn in format; Part A was mostly within a hotel room, Part B comes from the road - literally. I finalize my post-festival thoughts, spending quite a bit of time discussing the role of women in machinima, as represented in this year's festival. From the almost overwhelmingly masculine-themed submissions, to the women participants in the award ceremony, and so on. My son stops by for an interview late in the show and shares his perspective on this whole topic.
